Rocky Pool – Kalamunda: Discover the local trails

Rocky Pool – Kalamunda is probably one of my favorite spot to photograph as you might have noticed! There is also a 5km walk trail starting from Spring road and also accessible through Schipp road which is absolutely lovely in Spring.┬áRocky Pool is located in Kalamunda National Park. The park itself is only a few minutes away from the town of Kalamunda.

I find Rocky Pool, a great place to photograph. Although, it is best to be careful when walking on the rocks near the pool. Two years ago, I slipped and ended up in the water. Hopefully my camera survived as I was able to hold it away from the water as it was attached to the tripod. I had a good laugh when I managed to get out as the more I was trying, the more I was slipping further down in the water. Good thing it was the start of Spring and the water wasn’t so bad. Another good thing when you do this early in the morning at sunrise is that nobody is here to see you being a clown!

There are a lot of birds to observe such as Red-Caped parrots and Red-Tailed Black Cockatoos early in the morning or at dusk. I was also able to come across a bob tail.

Did you like this blog post about Rocky Pool in Kalamunda? Then have a look at my Perth Waterfalls Guide, which sums up the waterfall I have already visited in Perth and surrounds. I do not give out locations, only names. The fun part is to go out and explore! And please, take your rubbish with you. Every time I go out for a walk, I manage to fill my bag with rubbish.
